Laundream

I hate laundry. It never ends.

No matter how hard I try to "catch up" the laundry, it never seems to work. The second I get done, there is some kid coming in the door with mud, water, grass, dirt, food, drink... SOMEthing all over their sleeves, front of their shirt, knees, etc. It never fails. I could place my bet on red and win, hands down.

*sigh*

So, anyway, I had this great idea today while starting the load of whites. Well, maybe it was more of a fantasy than an idea..... It went like this:

In my daydream while escaping the harsh reality of pulling socks out of themselves and shoving them into the washer, I imagined myself in a different world. It was an exotic place, full of wonder and mystery..... I had on the best pair of blue jeans and this fantastic Chicago Cubs t-shirt. My Old Navy green flip flops whispered on the floor as I walked through my house. Which brings me to the next part of the daydream: my house. This was a house with beautiful family pictures hanging on the wall and an entertainment center flanked by 2 tall bookshelves full of books. It truly was a beautiful sight. I had a brown microfiber couch and two wingback chairs. I must have left the Halloween smoke machine running, because it looked like I was walking through a light fog. My laundry room was off of the kitchen, just like in my house now. But this laundry room was different. It was a larger laundry room than my own? No. Same size. The washing machine was newer? Nope. Same make and model. Hmmmm. Why was this laundry room so special?

And all at once I understood.

This was no ordinary laundry room. This was a magical laundry room! There were little magical mice that were singing and loading the dryer, switching clothes from the washer to the dryer, folding my towels in the same fold-fold-flip-fold-flip pattern that I am extremely anal retentive about!

Then all at once, the washer started washing and I still had the lid open. I had to hurry up and get the rest of the whites in there so I could hurry up and close the lid.

Maybe another day I'll get to finish that daydream.......
